At the beginning, there is the Initial... a materialized typeface in the form of a site-specific installation — metal mesh used for picture hanging has become a net into which each letter is weaved, pixel by pixel, using insulating tape. In this way, the specific space generates its own font, as a reminder to the beginnings of 8-bit graphics in the times the exhibition hall was being built. The word is being decomposed to individual characters — possible initials of other words — and the characters in turn are being decomposed into black pixels, which are the final stage of zooming in any content. The character is just an initial, the first letter, followed by an endless (con)text of space.
